Chestnut brown locks flow down to his shoulders whilst bangs covered his red-brown eyes that glow prominently crimson when faced with bloodshed or triggering his unique powers.

From the first time we were introduced to the vampire in the first chapter where he saved Yuuki from the Level E when she was merely 5 years old, Kaname has proven his wave-less emotions even whilst facing battle and death before him.

Kaname was a pacifist through and through; refusing to take on 'servants' in which to drink from to sustain his life force, causing him to grow weak because of his selfless act. He lost himself within the catacombs of his mind, his kinsmen were turning more and more human's into vampires, plunging the world into blood lust. It was then the 'Hooded Woman' took him away from it all, saving Kaname for a higher purpose than death. The 'Hooded Woman' helped Kaname to see the light at the end of the tunnel and what must be done to save their race from destroying humanity. Working together brought new hope and life to the boy and in turn feelings of devotion formed for his counterpart.
When the 'Hooded Woman' cast her heart into the furnace to restore balance towards humanity by creating the anti-vampire weapons for the first of the Vampire Hunter's; A gap grew in Kaname's soul; feeling hatred for himself at the fact that he could not protect that which he cherished most. As such, the Pureblood did all that he could to restore the balance of life; experimenting over the coming years as the two hid themselves away from the world they knew. After years of searching, Kaname found a way to kill the Pureblood's who continued to multiply their 'servants' without thinking of the consequences. A Pureblood could only be killed by another Pureblood; Though such an act would be considered treason amongst your own kind. On the 85th Night; the Hooded Woman's bodice gave in; shattering into a million shards at Kaname's feet. He was unable to protect the one thing he had come to hold dear in his life and it was at that moment he decided to hide himself away from the world and sleep for all time; his heart in too much despair at the loss of his companion. This ultimately changed Kaname's perception of life not only towards his own kind, but to the human's who gave birth to them, the 'Hooded Woman's' Ideals of making a peaceful world in co-exist stained within his memories and personal morals.
It was not until thousands of years later that Kaname was awakened abruptly from his eternal slumber by a distant relation; Rido Kuran. Rido had sacrificed a young baby who was in fact Yuuki's biological brother who had also been named 'Kaname'. Rido's wish was to devour the awakened Kaname to further his own powers, however, a starved Kaname was quick to give in to his blood lust and drained Rido to almost the point of death at his resurrection. With his body weakened to a state of blood lust, Kaname had to make a quick decision. Using his unique abilities he decided to transform himself into that of a baby boy and suppressed his own memories as to uncomplicate things to be raised by Juri and Haruka Kuran; his descendants who had lost their own child.
As the years went by, Kaname was blessed with a sister, Yuuki, who he became very close with. Their bond grew every passing day until they even went as far as to promise themselves to one another; Becoming exactly like their mother and father. It was at this moment that Kaname found purpose in his life once more and would do anything and everything in his power to protect his beloved sister and not let the life the 'Hooded Woman' spared go to waste, evening going so far as to alter his original plans to incorporate Yuuki into the equation. She meant everything in this world to him and Kaname would be damned if did not protect the one he loved this time to no avail.
Ten years after his revival; Rido Kuran's body had recovered from his grave injuries under the protection of the Vampire Senate only to seek out revenge on the boy and intended to steal the Kuran Princess to further his own power. Kaname confronted Rido but not before coming with the heavy cost of Kaname's adopted father's life, Haruka; Rido's own brother. Despite his utter will to destroy Rido, the crazed vampire had awoken him and thus was his 'master' who he could not murder of his own accord without taking his own life. However that being said Kaname's will to protect those he loved prevailed, attacking Rido for a second time and ripping his body asunder to leave him alone once more. After the attack; Juri, Yuuki and Kaname's mother had a final wish of Kaname. Giving her own life to suppress Yuuki's memories and vampire nature, Juri asked him to protect Yuuki for all time and let her grow happy as a normal, human child as to for go her lust for blood and the horrors that would lie ahead of her. Stricken with grief at the loss of his adoptive parents and the strong will to uphold the 'Hooded Woman's' memory and ideals, Kaname of course agreed and took Yuuki away to a place where she would be safe.

His generally warm persona is radiated in public view, this being shown every time the Night Class makes their way from the Moon Dormitories amongst his interactions with the Day Class students, despite his complete lack of interest for everyone of them besides Yuuki Cross. Yuuki held a very special place in his heart; The one being he let down his protective barriers and showed his true feelings of affection and warmth. This is constantly proven by his doting upon her in the general public amongst Day Students and vampire's alike. Their relationship rather complex, it's as though Kaname was a completely different person whilst solely in Yuuki's graces. His sometimes rash actions taken throughout the manga were always in the effort to protect Yuuki from harm and make sure nothing happened to her well being. The Pureblood vampire was never one to hide his true feelings for her though, even whilst in plain sight. This can be prominently shown during Chapter 89 whilst Yuuki, Ichigo, Zero and himself are taking tea and Yuuki is encased in their bedding after what appeared to be their 'first time' at the beginning of the chapter. When asked by Yuuki if it was alright to show themselves together whilst in Zero's company, Kaname's simple reply was staking his claim over her, drinking from her neck as Zero left the room yet glaring over his shoulder toward the scene.
On the topic of Zero; Kaname held thinly kept rage issues as well as deep harboring jealousy towards the vampire hunter turned vampire. With both Yuuki and Zero being part of the 'School Guardians' as well as being raised by Kaine Cross since they were both young, the two had a bond that was unlike Kaname's with Yuuki. It is evident throughout the series that Zero has strong feelings towards Yuuki and Kaname does not wish to lose her to him though he does not wish to interfere with their friendship for fear of losing her to him. As such; Kaname entrusted Zero with Yuuki's protection as well though with great consequence. In chapter 26; Kaname shows signs of 'humanity' by entrusting Zero with Yuuki's protection whilst he is gone, however he makes sure to instill fear within the boy by mentioning the awakening of a certain 'girl' who arrived earlier in a previous chapter which was linked to Zero's tragic past. Tolerance is the key word betwixt these two; Kaname only seeing fit to keep Zero living even after his descent into Level E for her protection after bestowing him with his blood to keep him sane and slow his descent into chaos and lose his mind to the blood lust within the catacombs of his mind.
Despite his best interest to keep the peace betwixt the Human's and Vampire's alike; Kaname has a tendency to contradict his own actions and words. This is seen clearly when he defies the code of the vampires in Chapter 19 when he murders one of his own kind; A Pureblood like himself Shizuka Hio and goes so far as to say he is selfish in his plans and thinks inwardly for himself in the grand scheme of things; his one and only desire to protect Yuuki and give her a place where she is safe from harm and they can be together.

Powerful hands moved down the slender curve of her bodice and drew up her back as if clinging to her for dear life. The woman's head was tilted, allowing him access to her now unprotected neck and drawing a line of thick saliva down to the crook of her neck meeting collarbone. Without hesitation he placed a chaste kiss over the rushing veins which coursed that sweet, sickly blood through her before exposing his fangs to the elements. Kaname sunk them into the soft flesh as she let out a wanton moan, crying out his name as he finally stirred awake from his slumber to bring the intimate dream to an erupt end.
Light shined through the glass windows, causing Kaname's eyes to furrow closed in reaction. A hand moved to reach out forward in hopes of encasing around his beloved Yuuki and hold her closely only to be disappointed. Reddish brown hues opened lazily after that, gaze still foggy caused by his lucid dream's bliss. A hand moved to his temples, brows furrowing as he became uneasy without explanation. Then it hit him, eyes opening wide as he noticed his lack of clothing and even more so the collar that encased around his neck loosely. "What...?" Puzzling the question to no one in particular as he looked frantically around the room for Yuuki with no avail. The Pureblood bolted out of bed, seemingly careless to his lack of clothing for the time being. What is this place? It surely was not the humble abode he shared with his counterpart and daughter hidden away from the rest of the world. The decorum was familiar; One that seemed almost familiar to him with the grand canopy bed. When he explored the nearby bathroom a familiar white suit had been laid out for him, brow cocking curiously as he moved to cloth himself.
